First, a good father protects his children from harm. I am sure you know (probably from your own experience) that every child feels safe and secure in the presence of his father. No father, however weak he is, will sit down unconcerned when his child is being threatened or beaten.
Our Heavenly Father also protects us. David wrote in Psalm 3:3:
“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head.”.
Psalm 125:2 also declares :
“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.”
My friend, your heavenly Father is your security man and he is on duty 24×7. Therefore, there is no need to fear anything.
Secondly, the Lord provides the needs of His children just as any good father does. His name is Jireh – the Provider. Jesus Christ said:
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11).
Your heavenly Father is better than your earthly Father. He can supply you anything you need and want because he is limitless in what he owns. Apostle Paul could boast in this God who can “supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). He is a Faithful Father who delivers on His promises. You just have to come to Him in a simple child-like faith.
Thirdly, your Heavenly Father will guide and direct you in dealing with every issue of life. The reason we go to our earthly fathers for guidance and counselling is because they might have had similar experiences when they were our age. But sometimes, they get it wrong because their wisdom and knowledge does not cover every subject. Your heavenly Father, on the other hand, knows it all. He is omniscient. He is the fountain of wisdom. Even Solomon who is reputed to be the wisest person to ever live knows this. He wrote:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
His father David (in the most popular psalm) wrote:
“ …. he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honour to his name.” (Psalms 23:2-3 NLTSE)
Oh yes, the Lord will guide you out of trouble. In whatever area of life you need guidance, your Heavenly Father is willing and ready. This is His promise:
“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. (Psalms 32:8 NLTSE)
I thank God that as my Father, He protects me, preserves me, provides for me, guides me and directs me. You too can enjoy these blessings. There is only one requirement: submit yourself to Him. You will not regret.
Your best is yet to come
